A Prayer for Blue Delaney

Children of the Wind: Book 3 - 1954-1956

A Prayer For Blue Delaney is a vivid recreation of Australia in the 1950s and of the post-WWII child migration schemes that changed our history.

Allen & Unwin commissioned Troy Martin and Amelia McBride to write comprehensive teacher’s notes for ‘A Prayer for Blue Delaney’. Teachers on A Prayer for Blue Delaney in the Classroom

Murray has woven a moving, vivid tale, which is a rattling good read. The early passages are a strong contrast to the free and healing experiences of the road and the outback life that Colm enjoys as a young teenager. There are several other characters who are strongly drawn and vivid.
Of interest to readers aged 12-16. Could be used to connect with History, Australian studies, discussions about authority and how societies change over time.
